Yippee! My replacement order from Lulu arrived--so now I have a set of A Light Blazes in the Darkness with PERFECT covers. And just in time, too. Now I have good ones to give to everyone at our staff meeting next week so they will have them in time for Advent. The remainder I will take to church and re-sell to anyone interested.
It's Friday, friends, and that means it's time for the RevGal's Friday Five meme, courtesy of Songbird. Today's theme is Kiddie Lit, in honor of the opening today of the newest Harry Potter movie.
1. Earliest book you remember (read to you or by you):
Now We Are Six by A. A. Milne
2. Picture Book you would like to climb into:
Anything illustrated by Tomie De Paola
3. Favorite series of books (then or now):
The Little House series by Laura Ingalls Wilder.
4. Character you would most like to meet:
Jo in Little Women. We have the same real first name: Josephine.
That fascinated me, because NO ONE else ever had that name.
5. Last childhood book you re-read (for yourself or to someone):
The Clown of God by Tomie De Paola
I provided links to amazon in case this gives anyone a Christmas gift idea.
How would you answer the Kiddie Lit meme?
I used to have a cat named Pinkle Purr. Do you remember the poem?
ReplyDeleteThat's not one of the ones I remember. But I was inspired to order a copy for my 4 year old neice, so I'll refresh my memory when it comes!
ReplyDeleteI told you, didn't I, that I woke up one morning convinced that the reverendbaby should be named Josephine after my dearly-departed dad? Unfortunately R does not prefer the name, but I think Jody and Josie are adorable nicknames for little girls. And I also love Jo and loved Jo from that book. My sister's middle name is also Jo, as is R's sister! It's a perfectly cromulent name! (to use a term from the Simpsons)
ReplyDeleteno sign of the advent books here. I DO hope they arrive in time. please pray they do...
ReplyDeletethis reading plan sounds great. :)
I've read what you've experienced throughtout the couple of months and I can imagine it's exciting to read all the gospels within a week.
be blessed:)
I loved the name jo so much that I did start using it as a nickname even though my name is NOT Josephine.
ReplyDeleteI was named after my father's sister. Since she used the nickname "Jo", they called me "Jody" or "Josie" to avoid the "Big Jo" "Little Jo" scenario. That was a good thing!
ReplyDeleteRM and jo(e), my sister-in-law was named Joe Ann after her grandfather Joe. And yes, she spells it with an (e) which has resulted in gender confusion with some who don't know her. It's a West Texas thing.
