Since I'm making a to-do-list this morning (and checking it twice!), I'll share it with today's RevGals Friday Five, brought to us by Rev. Songbird. I'm sharing the beautiful picture she put on the RGBP blog.
Here's the prompt:
Here's the prompt:
There are only five full days before Christmas Day, and whether you use them for shopping, wrapping, preaching, worshiping, singing or traveling or even wishing the whole darn thing were over last Tuesday, there's a good chance they will be busy ones.
So let's make this easy, if we can: tell us five things you need to accomplish before Christmas Eve.
So let's make this easy, if we can: tell us five things you need to accomplish before Christmas Eve.
1. Get my upstairs ready for our out-of-town guests: four adults, two toddlers and one dog.
2. Trip to grocery store. Buy beef now or later? Juice boxes for the kids? Do they like goldfish? Cereal? Pancakes? Pondering these things.
3. Plan Christmas Day dinner for 22. Delegate side dishes to nieces, neighbors and SIL. Real plates or disposables? Cheese grits or potatoes? Cheese grits AND potatoes?
4. Find extra food dish for visiting dog. What does he eat? Can he sleep in Beatrice's large dog car bed? (He's a minature pinscher or "MinPin".)
5. Christmas Eve service at 4 (for kids), 6, 8 or 10? Who will decide?
What's on your list?

What? No plumbing fixtures?
ReplyDeleteMy list:
ReplyDelete1. Decide WHERE to go to church on Christmas Eve (the woe of an H.R. who preaches at many different churches)...
2. Purchase beef & fixin's for Christmas dinner(have you seen the price at Costco for Standing Rib? Outrageous!)
3. Pick up eldest daughter at BUSH early on Christmas Eve morning.
4. Call the rest of the clan (spread from CO Springs to Austria, with many in-between).
5. Pray for cooler weather!
Wouldn't worry too much about getting stuff for the kids -- but I do know they both love that Pediasure (chocolate milk-flavored).
ReplyDeleteAs for side dishes, I vote for cheese grits and potatoes. I can help.
Ricky (the Min-Pin) eats everything. Literally. I'd just feed him Bea's food.
I vote for either 4pm or 6pm and we eat at Saint Betty's afterwards.
Fixtures are getting fixed this afternoon--hopefully.
ReplyDeleteI bought apple and orange juice boxes, goldfish snacks and graham cracker snacks for the kids.
Twenty-two??
ReplyDeleteYou're a better woman than I.
Wow--Christmas dinner for 22!! I thought 8 was bad enough... you are a super woman!
ReplyDeleteOK... you win... 22 would send me over the edge. Totally. Over. The. Edge!
ReplyDeleteCheese grits as a side dish. Have mercy on those few of us here north of the Mason Dixon line who not only know what grits are, but like them.
ReplyDeleteYa'll need some ice and snow for a change. Walk by the lake? How about on it! Just bring the grits--and some stewed tomatos and okra, if you please, with just a little fat back to amke it really wothwhile.
Yep ... grits and potatoes !!
ReplyDeleteChristmas dinner for 22?!?
ReplyDeleteI vote for grits & potatoes, too.
I'm with BW ... I'd be ordering dinner delivered (does QFC have grits?)
