Almost All Clear

Rita has now passed through and we were very, very fortunate. Our power is back on after being out for about 6 hours. There was very little rain, high (but not hurricane force winds) and almost no damage where we are. Rain and wind bands from the storm are still passing through so we're staying at my sister-in-law's until later this afternoon.

It's hard to describe the feeling of relief we all have right now. I'm sure all those prayers helped. Even where the eye of Rita came in the damage was relatively light. The storm seems to have lost a lot of power as it approached and it moved quickly enough past the coast to avoid flooding problems.

El Jefe observed that historically, there have been no hurricanes hit the Texas coast after October 1. That's next weekend. Wouldn't we all love to see the end of this hurricane season?

Thanks for your concern and your prayers.

An end to all these hurricanes would be a blessing, YES.

I am very happy to hear that you weathered the storm well. May God bless others in the same way as the possibility for flooding continues north of you with a slow moving storm.

It hasnt started raining here yet. I came home last night to see cotton pickers in the field at 10 pm. They were desparately trying to get as much picked as possible before the rains hit. We have wind (if I may use that word since it compares nothing to what you've had) right now, but just waiting for it to bring the rain. Hopefully the rain won't linger and the sun will come back out and dry out the crops.

Pray for my sister and brother-in-law up around Memphis. They are farmers and don't pick up there as soon as we do down here. If they get a lot of rain, it could be at the worst time for them.

Anyway, I'm glad you're alive and doing well. I'll check back in couple days to see if you have more aftermath news to share. God bless.

In the love of Christ,
greg

Thank God for that.

Greg,
I'll certainly pray for your sister and brother-in-law. I sure hope Rita will just sputter out and not dump floods of rain on Arkansas and western Tennessee.
What a mess. Thanks for your interest and concern.
