New Blogger--A Suckhole for Time

Blogger finally let me switch QG over to the "New" Blogger. Every other time I tried to switch I got a "Not Yet" message.

Fortunately today is Saturday and I needed to stay home anyway. But I didn't mean to spend the whole day playing with all the features, changing the template and trying to figure out a way to get a picture on my header.

I'm not satisfied with the way the header looks, so I'll be tinkering with it some more. I think I'll have to learn how to do the widget thingies if I want the picture to fill the header. Any advice is welcome!

OK, I wanna know how you got that picture in the header. Way cool.

Woooh! That looks so good. I finally managed to switch today too, but haven't got time to do anything about it for now - not even find out what I might want to do.
Do any of you have any clever thoughts about it?
Meanwhile, I'll just sit here and admire the scenery :-)

Well, catnipper is me - but I don't remember typing that into the user name. I do like your new template/layout!

I agree. It looks great! And if you can tell me how to get my picture in the sidebar as well as one for the header, I will be very very grateful.

GG and PG--

You can post a picture in the header by going to the HTML for the new blogger template and finding the code that starts with div header wrapper id. Change the maxwidgets from '1' to any number larger than 1 and the showaddelement 'no' to 'yes'. Save the changes.

Now go back to the page elements tab. There will be "add page element" tab in the header. Click on it and then click on the picture icon. You can choose a picture from your computer or using a url and upload to this space.

To put a picture in the sidebar, just click add new page element and then the picture icon and do the same thing.

Well, I like the header. If I weren't already in Texas, that gorgeous picture would make me really homesick.

Whoo-hooo! I sort of got it! I can see the possibility of spending hours on this. Now I want to know how to get the title into the picture.

GG,

You can use Photoshop or a program like Print Shop to put text on the picture, then save it as a .jpg file and go from there.

I tried that but Blogger wouldn't let me delete the blog title from their header box, so I ended up deleting it from the photo. I would have liked to have all the text in the header on top of the photo. If you figure it out, let me know!

I think you can "trick" the header into not showing the title by changing the color of the letters to the same color as the background of your header, in your case, white. I have not done it on my regular blog, but I have another one where I was testing things out and it worked on that one. But your picture will still be smaller than the box...I don't know how to fix that problem...wish I did.

I love the bluebonnets!

I do believe blogger does not like Macs. Can't find the "widget #" in the Html Page Layout. And when I've tried to upload a photo in the sidebar, am treated to the triangle with the ! for endless amounts of time with no result.

AAARRRRGGGH. But thanks anyway.

My To Do List just got a lot longer......

Grace, you always look pretty.

PG--
Are you on New Blogger? I use a Mac and didn't have any problems.

Annie--
Thanks for the tip, I'll try that out and see how it looks.

St. Cassie--
`blushing~ Thanks!

Yep. Got on the New Blogger. That's when I changed my template. You use a Mac too? That settles it then, I'm going to have to get a "Blogging for Dummies" book or take a class.

Anyway, kudos on your blog. It really looks great.
