Small Mercies

Today I am really really really thankful not to live in Iowa.

You know what I mean?

hey! We are having fun here enjoying our 15 minutes of fame!!! (And looking forward to tomorrow when our phones and doorbells will stop ringing...)

I was born and raised in Iowa for 27 years and caucus season had its downs, but overall was pretty cool. The phone calls and TV ads got old, but having Jesse Jackson, Jack Kemp and Mike Dukakis come speak at your high school is pretty cool. Getting to see Bob Dole and Bill Clinton on the same day ain't bad either.

Reading about the campaigning in Iowa and seeing the politicians in my old stomping grounds, makes me nostalgic for Iowa right now.

Years evenly divisible by four are a major source of stress for me.

Sometimes knowing the truth is imprisoning rather than liberating...

Are you sure that being Moderator isn't pretty much the same experience?

God bless you old Iowans--shawn and churchgeek!

GG--now that you mention it, I got a very odd email January 1st. So maybe it will be. ACK!

Ditto. I'm so sick of politics and politicos.

I grew up in New Hampshire in the '70's. Pretty much the same thing. Of course, as a High School student I got to meet, and actually spend time with, Bob Dole and a number of other national politicians. Pretty cool, and back then there wasn't the cloud of media doing their impression of a black fly swarm at the hight of the season.
