Here's the latest on the dachshund front.
My nephew, Doc the naval surgeon, and his fiancee' Queenie, Portia's college roomie and bridesmaid, were so taken with Beatrice, James and Dolley after meeting them last weekend that they bought a puppy from the Dachsie Ranch, too. She will be ready to go home with them next month.
She looks like Beatrice, but with fewer brown markings (see photo at left).
In other news, Beatrice already got out of the backyard fence. So now we'll need to repair it and install puppy bars. She's cute, but she isn't cheap!

It's a Dachsund Domination in the Makin'!
How fun when you get them all together!
I have the song from "101 Dalmations" going through my head, only "We'll have a Dachshund plantation..."
All of a sudden, I am seeing piebald dachsies everywhere! Dave is getting really good - and firm - with his "no."
I just want to smoosh my nose in her fur!!
What a little sweetie!
That breeder should be VERY grateful to your family.
No kidding, zorra! Portia found the breeder and she thinks she should get a free puppy for all her referrals! DK doesn't agree...
Cute!
Although I am so kerflumple today that I actually thought to myself "What kind of surgeon only operates on navels?"
But only for about 15 seconds...
Cheesehead: hahahahahaha. That's good.
So, QG, what's the new little cutie pie's name?
The breeder named her "Brooklyn" which would be an apt name since Queenie is from Queens, NY. I don't know if Doc and Queenie plan to re-name her.
I'll find out and report back since curious minds want to know.
Cheesehead--
Hmmm. Maybe you're onto something. Doc could become a plastic surgeon when he finishes his Navy obligation!! Nip and Tuck, anyone????
You really have your hands full, don't you? Beatrice is a pistol.
NO.
Rev. Kim says "pretty please?"
A dog that short would require a snow snorkel to go outside in the winter here.
Ergo, the answer is still NO.
Rev. Dave (the meanie)
I keep telling myself, OVER AND OVER: I do not need a dog. I do not need a dog. I do not need a dog...
hhahaha - brought back memories of when Mindy (now 3) squeezed through our newly erected fence. (We had to put puppy bars) ... her puppies never did it though - cost the puppy bars were still in place AND she was a ferocious guard when they were in the garden they were more or less confined to the patio area until they were big enough to go to new homes.
continue to have fun :)
Puppies and kittens are so cute. When my wife (J) took in a "free" puppy 17 yrs ago we ended up spending $2000 on a new fence for the back yard (and eventually had to run a hot wire to keep the dog from digging out). And speaking of kittens, one showed up in our garrage before the holiday weekend. Now he has a name and a file at the vet...we're such pushovers for a cute, furry face.
