Don't let the cuteness fool you. Beneath that winsome exterior beats the mighty heart of a huntress.
Last night El Jefe took Beatrice out for a walk. He reported that she spotted a rabbit in the bushes and immediately took after it. It was all he could do to restrain her with her leash.
Gretel would be so proud!
And no, it wasn't Rabbit Fu-Fu (who hasn't been seen for a couple of months now so we're concerned about her) or any of her progeny. It was definitely a wild jackrabbit.

Bunnies Beware of Beatrice!

Maybe she is channeling Gretel?
I am just so IN LOVE with that face!!!
I agree with Mindy, that is just the cutest, grandest puppy face!
If Rabbit Fu-Fu was wild, she's probably just fine. Just moved on to raise her kibbins' on wilder grounds.
Beatrice is such a sweetie!
She's cute AND fearsome!
Beatrice the Bold!!
What a little dolly-face! Dachshunds are determined hunters, though. They were bred with large feet, short legs, loose skin, long vulpine muzzles, strong jaws and large teeth so as to better hunt prey such as badgers that had gone to earth while being pursued. To burrow after, engage and flush out or fight to the death a cornered badger in a close pitch-dark burrow also required a lion-hearted fearlessness. When on the hunt Dachshunds are all business. While at home, they are delightful family pets and companions.
Good dog, Beatrice!
