Now that Portia has gone public with the news, I'm thrilled to report that we are expecting our first grandchild --due the first week in March!
We're all very excited Chez QG. Portia is feeling better now that she is in the second trimester of her pregnancy and we have seen those ghostly ultrasound scans of the future member of the family. The OB assures her all is well.
So we're having fun listening to ideas about names--which will get narrowed down later in October when the OB can determine the baby's sex. Meanwhile the question is what will Baby call the grandparents???

Wonderful news, Jody!
That is great! Congratulations!
Baby should call you Gramma Grace and Grampa Jefe. :)
Congrats!!
What I have learned is you cannot wait for the child to decide. So choose what you want to be called and teach the baby (and The rest of the world) that is who you are. We did just fine with Nana, but somehow Grandpa became "Poohpa.". Just what any retired COL wants to be called! Of course, now That our eldest grand is 14, she may be a bit more embarrassed than he!
Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!! SO wonderful!
Definitely pick out something and *teach* it to the baby! My parents were the very respectable Grandmommy and Granddaddy, and even though that sounded like a mouthful at first, soon it was perfect.
Yes, we definitely need to pick the names we want baby to call us first.
My grandmother didn't do that and ended up being called "Babu" because that was my infant attempt to pronounce "Nana" which was what she wanted me to call her. Babu. Really.
Hurray!! That is wonderful!
