Tough Week All Around

This tough week was capped off by the murder-suicide at NASA yesterday. I spent a couple of anxious hours worrying about my friend Rocket Scientist who works there, and her husband who works for the same engineering firm as the man who shot himself and his employer.

Lord have mercy.

I'm posting this photo of my still-thriving hibiscus as a reminder of God's grace in the midst of tragedy. It cheered me up. Maybe it will cheer you up, too.

Oh, that is beautiful. During the two decades that we made an annual family spring break pilgrimmage to St. Augustine, we stayed in a condo place called Hibiscus, surrounded by red and yellow hibiscuses (?) hibiscii (??); ANWYAY, that plant brings back great memories. I have never seen one with such a gorgeous blend of colors.

I'm so sorry this latest tragedy is so close to home for you.

How beautiful of a picture. I grew up with hibiscus all around our yard. I miss them so in Alabama. I am sorry it has been a bad week, but I am glad it cheered you up.

Too much this week for sure.

Beautiful hibiscus. I've got a yellow one, but it's not blooming yet. Hey...wait a minute.....weren't you just writing about your "brown thumb"? The hibiscus and azaleas are proving your thumb to be green after all!

I've been conferencing this week, so had not heard about this. How very strange that he prefered death to losing his job. ??

As for the hibiscus...wow! We had them all around the yard in my childhood California days. Needless to say, they do not grow in Wisconsin. Lovely!

I've been thinking about this shooting as well -- I have two cousins who working in that building. I think this old world is in a world of hurt right about now.
