Today marked the halfway point in our journey through the Bible in 90 Days at church, so I planned a little celebration for my class. I set up an "Old Testament Snack Bar" featuring foods of from the OT for everyone to munch on.
Here's a picture of the OT Snack Bar:
Here's the menu, complete with scriptural citations--

The class is doing very well--no one is seriously behind in their reading and we are having great discussions. The "snack bar" was well-received. I think we should definitely do it again.

Wish we had thought of this a couple of years ago!
:-)
Quotidian,
This is great timing. We have a class going in on Tuesday nights which explores some biblical foods anchored to bible verses. It’s a lot of fun. The first class was on olives. We tasted both whole ones and oil and learned about the areas of the Middle East they came from.
The next class was on salt and wedded to "You are the salt of the earth." Tomorrow night is about bread.
My OT prof thinks it's hysterical that a command to make bread from a list of the dregs of the grain (what might be left and available even in a siege) would actually end up as a marketed product!
Very creative. But imagine life without chocolate.
Althea--your OT prof is right. By the way, I bought the Ezekiel bread at Whole Foods!
GG--yes I agree the trail mix would have been improved with chocolate. A lot. I didn't think it was very tasty but several of the folks did!
Missed the apples from Song of Songs---or is that too racy for Sunday?
Dave-
The main ingredient in Kharoset is apples!
Oh QG that is so cool! You are such a great host! *giggles*
Well, great, I stop by like any 14 year old to drop in a giggled-filled SOS reference and get shot down.
